Version history

What’s new

Every BiteWorthy drop, newest first. Versions are dates — year.month.day, with a final number when more than one drop lands in a day.

  1. v2026.10.12

    October 12, 2026

    • The chat assistant can ask you a question with real options when a request is ambiguous, and your pick comes back as the option you chose rather than text it has to interpret.
  2. v2026.10.11.8

    October 11, 2026

    • The app now shows a restaurant's logo beside its name in the list and on its page, with the banner across the top of the page, matching the website.
    • When you add a restaurant on the website, you can attach its logo and banner on the same form; they are saved as soon as the restaurant is created.
    • Fixed: someone who had verified a dish could not delete their account; they can again, and a dish whose verifier left stays locked.
  3. v2026.10.11.7

    October 11, 2026

    • In the web chat you can now drag menu photos onto the message bar or paste a screenshot straight into it; they attach just like the + button does and send when you press Send.
    • You can now send the chat a photo you took of a dish and ask it to add it: it asks you to confirm the photo is yours before submitting it, and restaurant owners and admins can set a dish's photo directly.
  4. v2026.10.11.6

    October 11, 2026

    • When you add a restaurant through the chat, you can now hand over its logo and banner in the same conversation, and keep adjusting them while the listing is still your draft.
    • A photo an admin uploads for a dish now becomes the dish's photo right away instead of waiting in the review queue.
  5. v2026.10.11.5

    October 11, 2026

    • Dish names and descriptions printed in all capitals on a menu now read normally: "CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA" shows as "Chicken Tikka Masala", while names like BLT and BBQ keep their capitals. A footnote asterisk at the start or end of a dish name is no longer shown.
  6. v2026.10.11.4

    October 11, 2026

    • Cuisine labels no longer fall for a borrowed name: French toast stays American, and a house-made antipasto at a pizza kitchen keeps its Italian label. A label an admin has confirmed is never rewritten by the model, and a label that stays put no longer flickers between confidence grades.
  7. v2026.10.11.3

    October 11, 2026

    • Restaurant owners who have verified their listing, and our admins, can now add a logo and a banner. The logo shows beside the restaurant's name in lists and on its page, and the banner across the top of the page, on the website for now.
    • On a phone, the chat's message box now grows as you type a longer message instead of scrolling inside a single line, and the "use my location" pin has moved to the top of the chat so the box has more room.
  8. v2026.10.11.2

    October 11, 2026

    • Admins can now see at a glance how the cuisine model is doing: calls, failures and cost by day, week and month, and for each scan how many dishes the hidden-wheat check flagged that the menu data missed.
  9. v2026.10.11.1

    October 11, 2026

    • Behind the scenes, every answer our cuisine model gives is now kept, and a second check has started asking whether a dish is usually made with wheat, so that a crust or batter nobody wrote on the menu can be caught before it reaches someone avoiding gluten. Nothing changes on a menu yet; this is the measuring step.
  10. v2026.10.11

    October 11, 2026

    • Dishes show their price as a chip, or a range like $9–$14 when a dish comes in sizes, on the website and in the app. Your best bets also show which part of the menu each dish is from.
  11. v2026.10.10.11

    October 10, 2026

    • Our servers' own log stream had been repeating a false alarm, a complaint from the log shipper about a reply it could not read, even though every line it sent had arrived. The alarm is gone, so a real problem in that stream is no longer buried under it. We also confirmed end to end that an error on our side reaches our error tracking within a minute.
  12. v2026.10.10.10

    October 10, 2026

    • Cuisine labels now stay off things that have no cuisine, like a soda, raw onions or a bottled beer, however themed the restaurant around them. Everyday American plates such as a ribeye or a composed salad keep their American label.
  13. v2026.10.10.9

    October 10, 2026

    • Cuisine labels can now say Nepali and Tibetan, Mediterranean, Greek, Middle Eastern, Latin American, Caribbean, Korean, Vietnamese, French, Spanish, German, Ethiopian, Southern, Cajun and Creole, Barbecue, and Tex-Mex, so a dish is no longer squeezed into the nearest of seven. They also show up as choices in the taste step of onboarding and in settings.
  14. v2026.10.10.8

    October 10, 2026

    • When something goes wrong in a chat or in a background job on our side, we now record it ourselves: each distinct failure once, counted when it recurs, so a problem that keeps happening can be fixed before anyone has to write in. The record is the technical shape of the error, with ids, addresses, and quoted text blanked out, plus an internal reference to the affected chat so we can look into it.
  15. v2026.10.10.7

    October 10, 2026

    • The usage analytics the privacy policy describes are now actually on for the web and mobile apps: they report to BiteWorthy's own analytics project, where before the key was never set. Nothing new is collected from your browser or phone, and the opt-out and Do-Not-Track controls are unchanged.
    • Our servers now send their error reports and logs to that same project so we can see a failure when it happens. Before a line leaves a server it loses the request body, your IP address, every query value (including the diet you filter by), file and job arguments, and anything shaped like a credential; the privacy policy says so.
    • On mobile, turning analytics off in Settings takes effect at once instead of on the next launch, and the app sends only its named events, never the SDK's automatic ones.
  16. v2026.10.10.6

    October 10, 2026

    • Menus published before today kept their old cuisine labels. An admin can now re-run the cuisine labelling on any restaurant with the newer yes-or-no model, preview the changes first, and keep every label a person added by hand.
  17. v2026.10.10.5

    October 10, 2026

    • You can rename a chat: hover a chat in the sidebar and use the pencil to give it your own name. The assistant never overwrites a name you chose.
    • The chat sidebar now shows a pulsing dot beside a chat that is still working and a steady dot beside one that finished while you were in another chat, so you know where a reply is waiting.
  18. v2026.10.10.4

    October 10, 2026

    • Menus scanned from today on get their cuisine labels from a model built for yes-or-no judgments instead of the general-purpose one. It stopped calling a Venezuelan menu Mexican and chai Indian, answers in a fraction of a second, and costs almost nothing per dish.
  19. v2026.10.10.3

    October 10, 2026

    • Deleting a chat from the sidebar removes it right away, without a reload.
  20. v2026.10.10.2

    October 10, 2026

    • Bigger uploads: web scan uploads go straight to the API with a short-lived ticket, oversized menu PDFs get a Ghostscript pass, photos up to 15 MB are accepted and shrunk, and mobile resizes photos before upload.
  21. v2026.10.10.1

    October 10, 2026

    • In chat, photos you attach show as photos in your message instead of a long line of file codes. After you reload or open the chat elsewhere, each one shows as its file name.
  22. v2026.10.10

    October 10, 2026

    • On a dish page, the ingredient chips under "What we detected" no longer repeat the word "human" on every one. The mark alone says how sure we are, and a "What the marks mean" button beside the heading opens a short list explaining each mark instead of a paragraph crowding the page.
    • The Meta ad pixel now sends a page address with only its path, never the diet or search in the query, and switches off under the analytics opt-out, Do Not Track, or Global Privacy Control. The privacy policy lists everything it sends.
  23. v2026.10.6.3

    October 6, 2026

    • In the app, your best bets on a restaurant page are roomier and match the website, and when there are no picks yet it tells you why: sign in, start rating dishes, or rate a couple more.
  24. v2026.10.6.2

    October 6, 2026

    • Signed in, you can add a photo of a dish from its page, from a menu card without a photo, or when you write a review. A moderator approves it before it shows.
    • In the app, Settings → Account lets you write a short public bio and private notes the chat assistant starts every conversation with, and profiles show the bio.
    • In the app, Top Picks cards line up when only some of them have photos.
  25. v2026.10.6.1

    October 6, 2026

    • Most dishes already on BiteWorthy now carry the gluten sources newer menu scans catch, like samosas, katsu, breaded or gravied dishes, and soy sauce or malt vinegar, so Celiac and gluten-free filters hide them too. Dishes that were edited by hand since are being checked one by one rather than changed automatically.
    • The terms of service no longer show a draft banner.
  26. v2026.10.6

    October 6, 2026

    • Restaurant menus list dishes in the restaurant's own menu order instead of alphabetically.
    • Your best bets on a restaurant page are less cramped on phones: the heading fits on one line, the links get their own row, and the dish cards scroll edge to edge.
    • Admins can add new tags and ingredients marked as unverified.
  27. v2026.10.5.1

    October 5, 2026

    • Newly scanned menus catch more hidden gluten, like biscuits, breading, roux, and samosas, and keep track of which ingredients were inferred so Strict mode can hide them. Dishes already on BiteWorthy are not changed by this yet.
    • Dish photos load again after the faster photo sizes broke them, and fall back to the original photo if a resized one fails.
    • Dishes without a photo get a placeholder tile when the rest of their section has photos, so menu rows line up on wider screens.
    • The privacy policy now spells out what the chat sends to Anthropic: your messages, dietary profile, saved notes, and the reviews it reads.
  28. v2026.10.5

    October 5, 2026

    • Profiles can carry a short public bio, shown on your public profile page.
    • Save notes in settings that the chat assistant starts every conversation with, like who you're cooking for.
    • Restaurant pages show opening hours.
    • Admins can upload, replace, and remove dish photos.
    • Menu scans resolve ingredients more reliably, and adding a restaurant gives fewer false "already exists" warnings.
    • Fixed a blank chat that could appear when opening chats quickly, a sign-out race, and safety and layout issues on the settings and onboarding pages.
  29. v2026.10.2

    October 2, 2026

    • Chat on your phone no longer jumps to the bottom while you're reading a reply; it only follows new text when you're already at the bottom. The top menu folds into a menu button on phones, so pages no longer scroll sideways.
  30. v2026.10.1.1

    October 1, 2026

    • Phone photos upload again: big photos are shrunk on your phone before sending, instead of failing with "Request failed (413)". Works in chat, menu scans, and review photos.
    • Chat always shows what the assistant did (tool steps); the Tools toggle is gone.
  31. v2026.10.1

    October 1, 2026

    • Menu photos: on your phone you can now pick a photo you already took, not just open the camera — on the scan page and in chat.
  32. v2026.9.30.2

    September 30, 2026

    • Use my location: tap the pin next to the chat box and "near me" searches list restaurants nearest first, with how far each one is. Your location is sent only while the pin is on and is not saved.
  33. v2026.9.30.1

    September 30, 2026

    • Restaurant pages now say where they are: /restaurants/usa/colorado/durango/<restaurant>. Old links and share links still work and redirect to the new address.
    • Home city: set it in profile settings, and asking the chat what's nearby searches that city by default.
  34. v2026.9.30

    September 30, 2026

    • Chat results pane: a pane beside the transcript shows the menu or scan the assistant is acting on, drawn from the site's own pages, and follows every tool call.
  35. v2026.9.29

    September 29, 2026

    • Chat: switching or deleting chats mid-reply no longer loses your place, your queued messages, or the chat you opened
  36. v2026.9.28.1

    September 28, 2026

    • Chat: tool search no longer kills turns; tool steps say what they did; deleting a chat (and an account) works and asks first
  37. v2026.9.28

    September 28, 2026

    • Missing a restaurant? Signed in, you can now add one from the web — look for Add a restaurant on the Browse page: pick the city, name the place, and go straight to scanning its menu. If it looks like a place we already have, we show the likely matches first so you can pick one instead of adding it twice.
  38. v2026.9.26

    September 26, 2026

    • Add a menu from a photo or a link: open any restaurant, tap Scan this menu, and review the dishes before they go live — anything we can't vouch for is set aside instead of published.
    • Top Picks now work without the taste quiz — dishes you save or rate highly shape them — and the menu leads with your best bets.
    • Try a filtered menu before signing up: pick a diet on the homepage. If you're signed in, a diet link or a friend's share link now adds to your own allergies instead of replacing them.
    • Analytics no longer record what you click or type, never record your session, and respect Do-Not-Track and the opt-out right away.
  39. v2026.8.17.1

    August 17, 2026

    • You can now change your username — in Account settings on web and in the new Settings → Account screen on mobile. Usernames are case-insensitive: pick Alice and alice is yours too.
  40. v2026.8.17

    August 17, 2026

    • Dish pages now show every detected ingredient with its confidence and source — allergens highlighted, AI-inferred calls marked. Menus read cleaner: dish names link to details, and photo placeholders are gone. The menu scan is one tap from the homepage, and gluten checks got sharper at our live restaurants.
  41. v2026.8.16

    August 16, 2026

    • Version history begins: BiteWorthy now carries a date-based version (year.month.day), shown in the site footer and in the app, with this page listing what changed in each drop.
  42. v2026.8.15

    August 15, 2026

    • Share links now label themselves honestly — a menu filtered by a friend's shared profile says "Shared filter" instead of "No filter".
    • Expired or invalid share links show the menu with an explanation instead of a "page not found" error.
    • Clicking a restaurant from a diet guide (like "Celiac restaurants in Durango") now keeps that diet applied on the menu — and it stays applied while you browse dishes.
    • Password reset works end to end: a "Forgot your password?" link on sign-in, reset emails that land on a working page, and old sessions signed out after a reset.
    • The restaurants page gained a search box, and restaurant pages now show phone numbers and website links.
    • New dietary guides index at /durango, so every diet page is one tap from browse.
BiteWorthy is a planning aid, not a guarantee — dietary info can be wrong or out of date, so always confirm with the restaurant. Use at your own risk. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.
